ICANN Compliance

About ICANN Verification

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the organisation responsible for setting the various policies and procedures that govern domain registries for generic top-level domain (gTLD) names i.e (.com, .net. .org etc).

More information about ICANN can be found at http://www.icann.org.

Each domain that is registered is required to provide contact information—including the full name, postal address, email address, phone number, etc.—for the registrant (owner), administrator, and billing contacts.

The contact information for the domain is included on its record in the public WHOIS database, as required by ICANN. Some information is withheld as per GDPR guidelines.

If you do not renew your domain in time

If the domain is not renewed it will cease to function once it has expired and it will enter a 30 day grace period during which the time the domain name can be renewed without any additional fees.

If the 30 day grace period passes and you do not renew your domain name, it then enters a 40 day redemption period. During this time the domain can be renewed but only once a redemption fee has been paid. This is quite a large fee, as well as the redemption fee you would also need to pay for the domain name renewal.

When the redemption fee and domain has been paid the domain will renewed for you.

The redemption fee is approximately £150 plus vat (and is subject to change).

When the redemption period has finished it is not possible to renew the domain until it is released for re-registration by the Registry, ICANN.

This can be about 2 months after the redemption period has finished, when they are released is at the sole discretion of the Registry and they are issued on a first come, first served basis.
